Constantly working to add value by being involved with and in our community, we at MP&W encourage our employees to do the same. Here are highlights of how we serve our community.
Supporting Area Youth
MP&W provides in-school presentations on electrical safety, energy efficiency, and water quality, and on-site power plant tours. We sponsor competitions such as the annual Energy Poster Contest and the Electrathon. We donate the power to light the Muscatine Soccer Complex. Through Junior Achievement (JA), an organization that encourages students in their educational and career goals, MP&W employees volunteer to teach classes at local schools, and participate in JA's Groundhog Job Shadow Day, where students pair up with a MP&W mentor for a morning of on-the-job observation and learning.
Preserving the Environment is Rewarded
Energize Muscatine, which is partially funded by a grant from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, is an MP&W program aimed at promoting economic development in the community through the use of energy-efficient technologies. Free residential energy audits and rebates save our customers money each year and reduce our community's need for energy.
Muscatine Branching Out, a local division of Trees Forever, is an Iowa-based organization supported by MP&W that plants trees in our community for protecting and enhancing the environment and to help conserve energy.
Project Share
Project Share (PS) is a voluntary energy assistance program designed to help less fortunate people in Muscatine pay their wintertime utility bills.
You can help by adding a regular "PS" contribution to your monthly utility payment or by making a direct donation to Project Share. It's a simple way to share some warmth with those who need it.

Saving Muscatine Citizens $1,000,000 Annually
MP&W provides many utility services free of charge to local municipal facilities. We install, maintain and power Muscatine's street, traffic, and LED bridge lights, we provide power for Muscatine's "string of pearls" (the period lighting along the Mississippi riverfront), and provide electric and water services to city buildings such as City Hall and the Musser Public Library.
Making a Difference
MP&W employees impact our community through the Adopt-a-Highway program, by hosting blood drives, participating in Muscatine's July 4th Parade and the annual Muscatine Great River Days celebration, and by supporting our area’s needy citizens.
