Reading Your MPW Bill
Use this video as a guided tour to better understand the terminology and design of our bill.
On your MPW bill, essential information is located right on page one with a line by line breakdown on page two for those who would like to delve a litter deeper into the details.
Let’s look at each page. Starting at the top of page one, you’ll find all of your account information including name, service address, due date, and amount due, along with your MPW account number. Below to the right is the billing summary that contains last month’s total, any payments made, and your previous balance. It also includes a summary of charges for electric, water, and communications along with City of Muscatine charges. If you want to know more, line item details are available on page two. But before we leave page one, let’s look at the message centers. These three boxes help us communicate important information to you. In the upper left, you’ll find brief text messages customized to your account as well as reminders about programs and events that may interest you. In this box you’ll also find information about our Communications Utilities. Most often this area will feature the current movies available on demand and special offers. If you make a change in your service that requires an equipment change, you will see a message here reminding you to return old equipment for a credit. Over here, you’ll find reminders from customer service or the electric and water utilities including special notifications.
At the bottom is a tear-off coupon to return with your payment. Be sure to write in the amount enclosed here and place it in the self-addressed envelope provided. At the top of page two, you’ll find consumption graphs each month. This is a visual reference to your electric and water usage over the previous 12 months and below that you’ll find the complete line by line breakdown of this month’s charges by each service electric, water, and communications. Below that you’ll find a record of payments and miscellaneous charges, followed by the City of Muscatine Charges, which we collect on their behalf.
