What are the biggest concerns with 100% renewable?
MPW’s power supply transition plan considers 4 important factors: Reliability, Affordability, Flexibility, and Sustainability. It is important that we BALANCE these four factors as we plan Muscatine’s power supply transition. If we prioritize one factor above all, the other three will suffer. Prioritizing Sustainability (100% renewables) would jeopardize Reliability, Affordably, and Flexibility. MPW is definitely a fan of renewable energy and we plan to expand our own portfolio of renewables in the coming years. However, a transition to a full, 100% renewable supply carries too many costs and risks for Muscatine at this time.
