    COMPENSATION

Pension Plan
While you’re employed by MPW, you earn a pension benefit.  The Utility contributes to the plan on your behalf.

457 Plan (like a 401k)
A Deferred Compensation 457 Plan is offered to employees who want to save money for retirement on a tax-deferred basis.  You can begin contribution with your first payroll period.

Medical insurance
As a full-time MPW employee, you’re offered excellent comprehensive health insurance, including spouse and eligible dependent coverage, at competitive rates.  You can choose from low deductible, high deductible, health saving accounts or flex spending accounts as well as a comprehensive vision plan.  Wellmark creates and publishes machine-readable files on behalf of Muscatine Power and Water’s Health Plan.  View MPW’s health plan files here.

Dental insurance
You’ll be offered dental coverage for you, your spouse, and your eligible dependents that has the power of a national network of providers backed by local service teams located here in Iowa.

Flexible spending accounts
Flexible Spending Accounts are a way for you to save money by setting aside pre-tax dollars to pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses for you, your spouse, and your eligible dependent’s approved medical care expenses.

Life insurance
MPW provides Life Insurance to you at no cost. You also have the option of purchasing additional Supplemental/Voluntary Life Insurance for you, your spouse,  and your eligible dependents.

Long-term disability insurance
Long-term disability coverage is designed to help you meet your financial needs if you become unable to work due to non-work-related injury or illness.

     TIME OFF

Paid vacation
We know regular time away from work is essential to employees to recharge. MPW is proud to offer a competitive vacation package to promote work/life balance.

Paid holidays
Because we value work-life balance and care about our employees being with family and friends on holidays, we grant 9 paid holidays each year.

Personal time
Annually, you’ll be eligible for two personal days (16 hours) that will be granted each January 1 and can be taken in increments of one hour or more to allow you to relax and recharge.

Paid sick leave
We understand life happens –  we’re proud to provide a rich sick leave accrual which allows you uninterrupted pay for personal illness and injury.

Employee Assistance Program
Personal struggles can take a toll on your general health and wellbeing. We’re committed to supporting you and your family in identifying and resolving these problems through offering the services of an Employee Assistance Program.

Educational assistance for additional job training or higher education
Our Educational Assistance Program supports professional and personal development through formal education so that employees can maintain and improve job-related skills or enhance their ability to compete for other jobs at MPW.

Health club membership assistance
Exercise is an important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We support you and your family’s efforts to live a lifestyle that incorporates regular physical activity and exercise.  We’ll contribute dollars towards your annual membership in a health fitness center or purchase of personal fitness equipment.
