White’s journey with MPW began humbly as an entry-level “utility person,” at the power plant, quickly demonstrating his commitment to excellence, and rising through the ranks to his current position in 2019.
Known for his hands-on leadership, visionary contributions, and deep dedication to the team and community, Doug leaves behind a legacy that will shape MPW for years to come.

Throughout his career, Doug was instrumental in groundbreaking initiatives, most recently playing a pivotal role in the Utility’s Power the Future strategy to transform MP’’s power portfolio. He spearheaded MPW’s first solar array project – Muscatine Solar 1 – and has been the cornerstone in the development of Unit 10, a highly efficient, combined heat and power (CHP) unit. His leadership has extended beyond project development; White led the rigorous analysis and successful negotiation of a critical steam sales contract and navigated the complex permitting, regulatory requirements and procurement stages, ensuring a seamless progression of Unit 10’s development.
White receives a Distinguished Service Award, presented by General Manager, Gage Huston.
“Doug is one of the most well-respected and highly regarded senior leaders MPW has had the honor of working with,” said General Manager, Gage Huston. “He leads by example, never hesitating to roll up his sleeves and work alongside staff. His optimism and infectious laugh have been a constant source of energy for our team, and he will be greatly missed.”
In recognition of his exceptional service, Doug was awarded the Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities’ Distinguished Service Award at MPW’s October Board of Trustees meeting. Presented for the first time in 10 years, this prestigious award celebrates individuals who exemplify the highest standards of leadership and dedication to municipal utilities and the community.
As a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Doug plans to spend much of this time in retirement enjoying more quality time with his wife, Robin, and their beloved grandchildren. As Doug steps into retirement, his impact on MPW and Muscatine’s energy future will undoubtedly be felt for decades to come. MPW wishes him all the best in this new chapter, with deep gratitude for his contributions, his character, and his legacy of dedication.
