Muscatine Power and Water (MPW) is proud to announce it has been honored with the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Century Award. This milestone award recognizes public power utilities that have provided reliable electricity services to their communities for 100 years or more.
“We are honored to receive the APPA Century Award,” said MPW General Manager, Gage Huston. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees, past and present, who have tirelessly ensured our community has access to reliable and affordable power. It also reflects our commitment continuing this legacy of service for many years to come.”

The award also underscored the Utility’s long-standing dedication to innovation, customer service and operational excellence.
Over the last century, MPW has adapted to numerous changes and advancements in the energy sector. From the early days of electrification to today’s modern power grid infrastructure, the Utility has continually embraced new technologies and practices to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
As the voice of not-for-profit, community-owned utilities that power 2,000 towns and cities nationwide, APPA advocates for and advises members on electricity policy, technology, trends, training, and operations. It partners with member utilities to promote public power, helping them deliver superior services through joint advocacy, education, and collaboration.
