Repair costs for private water service lines can be in the thousands – be prepared.

If a problem occurs with your private water service line, MPW staff will assist you in determining the cause of the problem and alternatives to remedy the situation. The cost to make such repairs is often a shock and many customers aren’t prepared to handle the high costs of emergency repairs when their water service line is damaged or breaks.

  • At your home, water service lines from the connection at our water distribution main to the meter inside your home/building, are owned and maintained by individual property owners.

Don’t wait until a problem occurs – check your homeowner’s insurance policy for water service line coverage, which is offered by most homeowner’s insurance policies at reasonable rates.

If water service line coverage through your homeowner’s insurance isn’t an option, MPW has formed a partnership with Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA) to offer our customers coverage via a warranty program. This warranty program may cover the cost of expensive service line repairs.

Service Line Warranties of America offers warranty programs for water service line and sewer line damage or failure. SLWA is an independent company and MPW receives NO benefit from them or the insurance/warranty products they sell. Based on reference checks with other communities who offer the program, we can confirm that SLWA is a reputable company and endorsed by the National League of Cities. SLWA uses local contractors (where available) for repair and replacement of water and sewer service lines.

SLWA will periodically contact our customers to make them aware of the warranty program.  The decision to enroll in the program is strictly up to you.  If you enroll in a SLWA warranty program, they will bill you, and you’ll contact them if repairs are needed at 1-844-257-8795.

Additionally, we can provide some help through our Utility Loan Program.  In the event of a water service line repair, customers can borrow up to $3,000 for repair costs, subject to previous credit experience with us.  This is an interest-free loan with monthly payments added to your bill and repaid over 12-18 months.

From experience, we know how difficult it is for customers who have had unexpected damage or failure of their water service lines, and, through this relationship with SLWA and implementation of our Utility Loan Program, our hope is to provide you with options to meet unexpected costs for maintenance and repairs.
